Peugeot has unveiled its new e-3008, an electric fastback SUV that combines a sleek design with impressive performance and efficiency. The Peugeot e-3008 is the first model to use the new eVMP platform, which allows for a larger battery capacity and a longer driving range. The e-3008 also features a revamped interior with a digital cockpit, a head-up display, and a 10-inch touchscreen. The e-3008 is expected to go on sale in Europe in 2023, followed by other markets.
Design and dimensions
The Peugeot e-3008 is a fastback SUV, meaning it has a sloping roofline that gives it a sporty and dynamic look. The e-3008 has a length of 4.55 meters, a width of 1.84 meters, and a height of 1.62 meters. It has a wheelbase of 2.77 meters, which provides ample space for passengers and luggage. The e-3008 has a boot capacity of 540 liters, which can be expanded to 1,670 liters by folding the rear seats.
The e-3008 has a distinctive front end, with a large grille that features the Peugeot logo and the e-3008 name. The grille is flanked by LED headlights that have three claw-like segments. The rear end also has LED taillights that form a horizontal strip across the tailgate. The e-3008 has a two-tone body color, with the roof and the pillars in black and the rest of the body in various shades of gray, blue, or white.
The e-3008 has 19-inch alloy wheels that have aerodynamic inserts to reduce drag and improve efficiency. The e-3008 also has roof rails, side skirts, and a rear spoiler that enhances its sporty appeal.
Performance and efficiency
The Peugeot e-3008 is powered by an electric motor that delivers 225 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. The motor is paired with a single-speed transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The e-3008 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 km/h.
The e-3008 has a battery pack with a capacity of 90 kWh, which is one of the largest in its segment. The battery pack is located under the floor, which lowers the center of gravity and improves handling. The battery pack allows the e-3008 to have a driving range of up to 700 km (435 miles) on the WLTP cycle, which is comparable to some diesel or gasoline models.
The e-3008 can be charged using various methods, depending on the available power source and the time available. The e-3008 can be charged at home using a standard wall socket or a dedicated charging station. It can also be charged at public charging stations using an AC or DC charger. The e-3008 supports fast charging up to 150 kW, which can replenish 80% of the battery in about 30 minutes.
The Peugeot e-3008 also has regenerative braking, which recovers energy when the driver lifts off the accelerator or brakes. The regenerative braking can be adjusted using paddles behind the steering wheel, allowing the driver to choose between three levels of intensity: low, medium, or high.
The e-3008 has four driving modes that adapt the performance and efficiency of the vehicle according to the driver's preference and the road conditions. The driving modes are:
- Eco: This mode optimizes energy consumption by reducing power output and limiting air conditioning use.
- Normal: This mode provides balanced performance and comfort for everyday driving.
- Sport: This mode boosts power output and responsiveness for more dynamic driving.
- Individual: This mode allows the driver to customize various settings such as power output, regenerative braking, steering feel, and ambient lighting.
