Nissan ARIYA: The Electric Crossover That's Worth the Wait

Nissan Ariya

Nissan ARIYA is not just another electric vehicle. It's a crossover that combines performance, technology, and design to create a new kind of driving experience. And it's coming soon with two new versions that will appeal to different kinds of drivers.

The Entry-Level Version: Affordable and Practical

The entry-level version of the Nissan ARIYA is called the Pure. It has a single electric motor that delivers 215 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. It can travel up to 223 miles on a single charge, according to the WLTP cycle. And it can be recharged up to 80% in just 30 minutes using a 130-kW fast charger.

The Pure is also equipped with a range of advanced features, such as ProPILOT Assist 2.0, which can help the driver with steering, braking, and acceleration on highways. It also has a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen that can be customized and controlled by voice or touch.

The best part is that the Pure is surprisingly affordable, with a starting price of $46,000. That makes it one of the most competitive electric crossovers on the market, especially compared to rivals like the Tesla Model Y and the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

The Performance Version: Sporty and Fun

For those who want more power and excitement, there's the performance version of the Nissan ARIYA called the Performance. It has a dual electric motor that delivers 389 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 5 seconds and reach a top speed of 124 mph.

The Performance also has a larger battery pack that can travel up to 248 miles on a single charge, according to the WLTP cycle. And it can be recharged up to 80% in just 40 minutes using a 130-kW fast charger.

The Performance also comes with some exclusive features, such as e-4ORCE, which is Nissan's all-wheel-drive system that can distribute torque to each wheel for optimal traction and handling. It also has a head-up display that projects key information on the windshield and a BOSE Premium Sound System that creates an immersive audio experience.

The Performance is more expensive than the Pure, with a starting price of $60,000 (converted from 51,900 euros). But it's still a great value for those who want a sporty and fun electric crossover that can rival some of the best in its class.

The Bottom Line: Nissan ARIYA Is Worth the Wait

The Nissan ARIYA is expected to launch in Europe in early 2023, followed by North America later that year. It's one of the most anticipated electric vehicles of the decade and for good reason. It offers a blend of performance, technology, and design that sets it apart from other crossovers.

Whether you choose the entry-level Pure or the performance Performance, you'll get a crossover that's spacious, comfortable, and versatile. You'll also get a crossover that's efficient, eco-friendly, and future-proof. And you'll get a crossover that's fun, engaging, and satisfying to drive.

The Nissan ARIYA is not just another electric vehicle. It's a crossover that's worth the wait.

How Does Nissan ARIYA Stack Up Against Other Electric Crossovers?

Nissan ARIYA is one of the newest entrants in the crowded electric crossover segment. It promises to offer a blend of performance, technology, and design that sets it apart from other crossovers. But how does it compare to some of the established players in the market, such as Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Toyota bZ4X? Let's find out.

Range and Charging: Nissan ARIYA Holds Its Own

One of the most important factors for electric vehicle buyers is range and charging. How far can you go on a single charge, and how long does it take to recharge? The Nissan ARIYA offers two battery options: a 63 kWh pack that provides up to 223 miles of range (WLTP) and an 87 kWh pack that provides up to 310 miles of range (WLTP). The latter is comparable to the Tesla Model Y Long Range, which has a 75 kWh pack that provides up to 326 miles of range (EPA).

The Nissan ARIYA also supports fast charging up to 130 kW, which means it can recharge up to 80% in about 30 minutes for the smaller battery and about 40 minutes for the larger battery. The Tesla Model Y supports fast charging up to 250 kW, which means it can recharge up to 80% in about 23 minutes. The Ford Mustang Mach-E supports fast charging up to 150 kW, which means it can recharge up to 80% in about 38 minutes for the standard battery (68 kWh) and about 45 minutes for the extended battery (88 kWh). The Toyota bZ4X supports fast charging up to 150 kW, which means it can recharge up to 80% in about 30 minutes for its 71.4 kWh battery.

Performance and Handling: Nissan ARIYA Impresses

Another important factor for electric vehicle buyers is performance and handling. How fast can you accelerate, and how well can you corner? The Nissan ARIYA offers two motor options: a single motor that produces between 215 and 239 horsepower (depending on battery pack) and 221 lb-ft of torque and a dual motor that produces between 335 and 389 horsepower (depending on battery pack) and 443 lb-ft of torque. The latter can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 5 seconds, which is faster than most versions of the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which can do it in between 5.2 and 6.1 seconds (depending on battery and motor options).

The Nissan ARIYA also features e-4ORCE, which is Nissan's all-wheel-drive system that can distribute torque to each wheel for optimal traction and handling. It also has a low center of gravity and a flat floor that enhance stability and agility. The Tesla Model Y also has a dual motor option that produces up to 384 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque, which can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. It also has a low center of gravity and a flat floor that enhance stability and agility. The Ford Mustang Mach-E also has a dual motor option that produces up to 346 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque, which can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. It also has a low center of gravity and a flat floor that enhance stability and agility. The Toyota bZ4X also has a dual motor option that produces up to 201 horsepower and an undisclosed amount of torque, which can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in about 8 seconds. It also has a low center of gravity and a flat floor that enhance stability and agility.

Technology and Design: Nissan ARIYA Stands Out

The Nissan ARIYA also has a distinctive design that sets it apart from other crossovers. It has a sleek and futuristic exterior, with a blanked-off front section, long fangs of daylight running lights, and a coupe-like roofline. It also has a spacious and minimalist interior, with a floating center console, ambient lighting, and premium materials.

The Tesla Model Y also offers a range of advanced features, such as Autopilot, which can help the driver with steering, braking, and acceleration on highways. It also has a 15-inch touchscreen that controls most of the functions and a wireless smartphone charger.

The Tesla Model Y also has a simple and elegant design that follows the Tesla family look. It has a smooth and aerodynamic exterior, with a signature grille-less front end, LED headlights, and a panoramic glass roof. It also has a roomy and modern interior, with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, vegan leather seats, and a large cargo space.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E also offers a range of advanced features, such as Co-Pilot360 2.0, which can help the driver with steering, braking, and acceleration on highways. It also has a 10.2-inch digital cluster and a 15.5-inch touchscreen that can be customized and controlled by voice or touch. It also has a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a wireless smartphone charger, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E also has a sporty and muscular design that draws inspiration from the iconic Mustang coupe. It has a bold and aggressive exterior, with a pony badge on the front end, LED headlights, and a fastback roofline. It also has a cozy and stylish interior with a rotary gear selector, heated seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Toyota bZ4X also offers a range of advanced features, such as Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which can help the driver with steering, braking, and acceleration on highways. It also has an 8-inch digital cluster and an 11-inch touchscreen that can be customized and controlled by voice or touch. It also has a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a wireless smartphone charger, and an optional JBL sound system.

The Toyota bZ4X also has a rugged and adventurous design that reflects its off-road capabilities. It has a sturdy and angular exterior, with a large grille-like opening on the front end, LED headlights, and black cladding on the wheel arches. It also has a spacious and functional interior, with an electronic shifter, heated seats, and plenty of storage spaces.

The Verdict: Nissan ARIYA Is A Strong Contender

The Nissan ARIYA is not just another electric crossover. It's a strong contender that can compete with some of the best in its segment. It offers impressive range and charging capabilities, exhilarating performance and handling characteristics, and innovative technology and design features. It's also priced competitively for its class.

Whether you're looking for an affordable and practical electric crossover or a sporty and fun electric crossover, the Nissan ARIYA has something for you. It's worth checking out when it arrives in North America later this year.
