The MINI Cooper is one of the world's most iconic and beloved cars, with a history that dates back to the 1960s. The small and agile hatchback has always been known for its fun and spirited driving character and its distinctive and charming design. But the MINI Cooper is also a car that embraces innovation and change, and that’s why the next generation of this classic model will be available in two electric versions.
The MINI Cooper will launch in 2023 with a choice of two powertrains: a plug-in hybrid and a fully electric. Both versions will offer zero-emission driving and enhanced performance while retaining the signature MINI style and personality. The plug-in hybrid will combine a three-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor, while the fully electric will rely solely on battery power.
The plug-in hybrid MINI Cooper will have a range of up to 50 miles on electric mode and up to 310 miles on hybrid mode. The fully electric MINI Cooper will have a range of up to 200 miles on a single charge. Both versions will have fast-charging capabilities, allowing them to replenish their batteries in less than an hour at a compatible station.
The electric MINI Cooper models will also benefit from a new platform that will improve their handling, agility, and comfort. The platform will have a lower center of gravity, a more rigid structure, and a more balanced weight distribution. The electric motors will also provide instant torque and acceleration, making the MINI Cooper even more fun to drive.
