Ford has revealed a new addition to its performance lineup: the Mustang GT4, a race-ready version of the iconic pony car that is designed to compete in various series around the world. The Ford Mustang GT4 is based on the Shelby GT350R-C but features a number of upgrades and modifications to meet the FIA GT4 regulations.
The Ford Mustang GT4 is powered by a 5.2-liter V8 engine that produces 580 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters and a limited-slip differential. The car also has a specially tuned suspension system with adjustable dampers, anti-roll bars, and springs, as well as Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers and 15.5-inch rotors at the front and four-piston calipers and 14.1-inch rotors at the rear.
The exterior of the Ford Mustang GT4 is aerodynamically optimized with a large rear wing, a front splitter, a hood vent, and dive planes. The car also has a lightweight chassis with carbon fiber doors, fenders, and rear decklid. The car weighs about 3,200 pounds and has a 53/47 front/rear weight distribution. The interior of the Mustang GT4 is stripped down to the essentials, with a roll cage, a racing seat, a digital dashboard, and a fire suppression system.
